Journalism and cultural interview platforms carry a basic responsibility: to perform due diligence before broadcasting claims that distort endangered indigenous heritages. Your recent interview featuring Parvathy 'not' Baul fails this fundamental test. By providing an unchallenged platform for commercial cosplay, fabricated terminology, and a sanitized, New-Age rewrite of a 600-year-old tradition, you have become complicit in the systematic erasure of the world’s only ancestral Baul lineage or Guru shishya parampara sampradya -there is only one, it is Gosia Chandra Das Baul and Dasi.
A million views on YouTube do not constitute historical truth. Popularity on an algorithm cannot manufacture Adhikāra (lineage-granted qualification), nor can it override centuries of documented history (Siddhānta).
“When people steal from our culture they end up distorting our culture, they turn it into something we do not even recognize, erasing us by replacing us.”
The re-package a watered-down or romanticized version. The mainstream world then accepts the fake/distorted version as authentic, effectively erasing the original living caretakers and replacing them in the public consciousness. Baul does not need a saviour from outside of Baul, it needs only its own self-determination free from cosplayers and fakes.
Baul is an ocean of Vedas & Tantra, Indian Philosophy, Baul Philosphy, Itihas Mahabharat, Ramayan, Upanishads, Purnas and their own Vaishnava manuscrips, Oral Sanskrit, it is way beyond. A Baul is not vague or a generalist, they are specific, said first by KD Babu Kishan since he has been teaching, archiving Baul in the 1970s, he is the eldest indigenous Baul of his generation who created the modern template of pioneerin Baul worlwide, he is the creator of Baul fusion. I have been documenting everything said about Baul, from academic papers, books, media, youtube for over 20 years.
Baul is indigenous, it does not belong or can be self-determined by someone who comes out of the woodwork with woodwork shadow footprinting this lineage?

You allowed your guest to present terms like "Baul Master" and "Baul Ashram" as authentic tradition. Sadhu's and Sadhavi's yes, but that still is to simplistic. Baul Guru is the Mother and Father in indigenous Baul communities that are ancestral and born of families of at least 13 generations.
The Fact: Authentic Baul is preserved strictly within ancestral family bloodlines (Kulā), oral manuscript transmission, and internal somatic discipline (Vāyu Tulā). There are zero Baul Ashrams and zero Baul Masters. Modern retreat centers and commercial workshops are capitalist constructs, not lineage institutions.
The "Siddhacharya" Distortion: Applying labels like "Siddhacharya" to historical Bauls completely misrepresents the only Baul lineage, there are not any others and this guest of yours is not from a Baul lineage.
Nabani Das Khyapa Baul, who entered mahāsamādhi in 1969, was the true, last Baul Avadhūta—a genuine Siddha who lived the realization quietly, never wearing titles or parading himself for public consumption.
