This statement addresses the pervasive issue of intellectual property theft and the creation of fake lineages targeting the authentic Baul heritage of Birbhum, West Bengal, India. There has to be adhikara in Baul, there has to be more than 5 generations at the very least, there must be debate.
You can not base a lineage or Guru Parampara based on a one generation of Vaishnava poet, a poet this family new well and one who a young Krishnendu Das Baul composed music for his poetry because he was not a Baul, however, KD Babu Kishan being a recognized award winning qualified Baul poet and Music Composer knows, a Baul always knows who the poets are. It is a lie to say Baul does not care. Lying is not Baul, making false associations is not Baul, stealing indigenous parampara history is not Baul.

This is important, it is the intellectual property of this lineage only, we are tired of being looted, style, dress, poetry, all of our firsts and lasts regarding Baul, used for a fake lineage to collect people, fundraise and obtain awards through trying to replace us by faking us.

The writer of the song is RasaRaj Chand Gosai whose nickname is Roshik Chand Gosai, or Rashik’s a family member of this lineage, Nabani Das Khyapa is the first known person to sing this song and the tune is attributed to him and so is the song because he changed it a bit too. Rasaraj Gosia (Rashik) is Nabani Das Khyapa UNCLE, his fathers Occur Chand Gosia Baul own brother. We have the analytics some years back it was stolen off of KD Babu Kishan youtube channel and rerecorded without consent while taking acting it as if this person actually had a was an indigenous lineage Baul, this is false.
This song should never be used as a promotional material by random non-indigenous Baul, it belongs to this lineage. It should not be used by any random people without consent or correct attribution especially when one is making up fake Baul Gurus and fake Baul lineages, it should be explained fully where you got this song from, the first tenant of Baul is statya. Baul has been so randomized this lineage intellectual property stolen and acted out. This is not Baul.
This song was first recored by Hindustani Records in the 1960s by Baul Samrat Purna Das Baul ( a lineage holder of Baul). This song belongs to this parampara of 13 generation it was appropriated and rercorded off of KD Babu Kishans youtube channel then acting out for public consumption.
The opportunistic claimant gave the name Roshik as the poet, however, this lineage (parampara) only uses this name, the tune was created by Nabani Das Khyapa Baul and made famous by Purna Das Baul. It is not OK to just take without even telling the history of the song or using it to claim lineage.

There is only one Nabani Das Khyapa Baul the only Baul Avadhut of our generation, he is the only authentic lineage Baul to be associated with Tarapith and thus Krishnendu Das Baul aka Babu Kishan. Before I wrote their story, no one was talking about Tarapith, now they are manifesting Tara Ma, this is bull shit. Before we said, we are the lineage of Nityananda, now this is being scrubbed made generic and random and now they are trying to lay claim to this lineage again by writing an article on Vaishnava Sahajiya but that article is misleading and incorrect, it is suggesting they too are part of this lineage, they are NOT.
First one must have a authentic Baul Guru, then they should have studied the shastra, speak oral Sanskrit, preferably today know Classical Sanskrit, (Baul styles which is different from other Sandhya Bhasha, vernacular Birbhum Bengal (not east Bengal aka East Pakistan or Bangladesh dialect, it is different, they you should know Braja Bhasha have studied all 200 or more Vaishnava Sahajiya agamas in manuscript form. Baul is not simple, it is so watered down and reduced by fake Bauls who are using Baul to collect people, travel the world, gain awards that only should go to marginalized indigenous Baul. Baul should not be exploited for their own personal gains. This is serious injustice, Baul is being mis-appropriated and mis-used that is fact. Adhikara is a must, while Babu Kishan is alive it is a must because he actually did the work, both indigenous and academic, his Guru is the last authentic Baul Guru in every way, Baul Sant Nabani Das Khyapa Baul no one can replace him or his history, it is not meant to be acted out by fake Bauls, neither is Purna Das Bauls history and even worse KD Babu Kishan history should not be acted out, faked or repeated, seriously this insidious, trying to fundraise in the name of Baul to preserve Baul when it has already been preserved by KD Babu Kishan over more than 60 years?
Big problem, fake Baul essence is not Baul essence. Before you go oww and ahh wow do you even know how to tell if they are real or not, most likely NO. The book will educated you exactly in this and there is no guarantee they won't poach and copy the book too, copyright means nothing. Most people do not have a clue how to distinguish real from false, that is why there are so many cults. Baul is not a cult, it is indigenous and only can be self-determined by indigenous Baul. A guru in this parampara embodies the shastra, they don't read it from book that academic scholars wrote about Baul, that is suicidal the wrong path for authentic Baul, devoid of the ultimate Baul truth, what you see is acting and a gimmick.
I. The Core Offense: Indigenous Fraud
The practice of cultural appropriation, identity theft, and fraud against the Baul tradition. This constitutes a severe violation of the first tenet of Baul philosophy: Truth (Satya).
The Theft: Outsiders—referred to as "pretendian Bauls"fake Bauls with fake made up Baul Gurus and lineage ow and ahh—are engaging in Indigenous Intellectual Property Theft by:
Stealing the songs, style, dance, and stories of this specific lineage. While taking this lineages names off, replacing us by faking us.
Dropping the names of the true pioneers (Nabani Das Khyapa (the last Baul Avadhut), Padma Shri Baul Samrat Purna Chandra Das Baul, Krishnendu Das Baul aka KD Babu Kishan) replacing them with fake gurus and invented lineages. Or calling suggesting Purna Das Baul is just a shilpi Baul. Posting pictures of him visiting a tent of their fake Baul Guru who merely copied our songs, Nabani Style, dress, where they went and what they did. He was not a Baul, this will be debated openly very soon.
Listing wrong or fake poets' names to mislead, while using the poetry of the Nabani Das Khyapa Baul without giving credit, or by changing the poets name through false narratives, reducing and watering down Baul to claim its history as your own. Faking it til you make it, while snatching, grabbing, and stealing the indigenous intellectual property of this lineage.
The Lie (Asatya): This deception violates the core ethical mandate of Baul. To steal a song, style, all their firsts and lasts of authentic Baul remaking them and replacing then by claiming ignorance of the poet saying Baul does not care who the poets are, and then to record and commercialize it as one's own, is bold-faced thievery.
The Consequence: This deconstruction, watering down, and reduction of the tradition is a form of cultural genocide against this pioneering Baul lineage.
II. The Case of Nabani Das Khyapa Baul's Poetry
The theft is evident in the widespread use of two specific, recorded songs:
"Hrid Majhare Rakhbo"first recorded by Purna Das Baul, then recorded by fake it til you make it Bauls where people are left to think they actually made it popular, no wrong Purna Das Baul first made it popular and they copied it.
"Kichchu Din Mone Mone"same with this song, first recorded by Purna Das Baul in the 1960s with Hindustan records, completely belongs to this lineage.
The Poet: Both songs were written by the one and only Baul Saint Sri Nabani Das Khyapa Baul (Grandfather and Guru of Babu Kishan) and his Uncle Rasaraj Chand Gosia whose nickname is only told by this family within the family Rosik or Rasik.
The Preservation: This family is the sole reason these songs are known and preserved:
Purna Das Baul first recorded them in the 1960s with Hindustan Records.
Babu Kishan (Krishnendu Das Baul) later recorded them in the 1970s, ensuring their preservation across a 60-year period.
The Fraudulent Use: Some imitators, including those fundraising for "financial jackpots" and seeking fame/awards, are stealing these compositions—often copying directly from Babu Kishan's YouTube channel —and claiming the songs for themselves.
III. The Authenticity of the Only Lineage
This is a formal declaration of the singular nature of the Baul lineage, known as Lineage Baul Parampara Sampradaya:
Singularity: There is only one Baul lineage, and it is indigenous to India, originating in Ekkachakra, Birbhum.
Lived History: The lives of Nabani Das, Purna Das Baul, and Babu Kishan are unique, verifiable history. Outsiders are attempting to remake and randomize this history, taking the names off the people who lived it.
Babu Kishan's Credentials: Babu Kishan is uniquely qualified to teach this indigenous ancestral tradition, possessing both the lineage and academic credentials:
Academic: BA and MA from Calcutta University, qualified to lecture on Indian Philosophy, Tantra, Music, Veda, and Baul Sandhya Bhasha at universities worldwide since the 1970s.
Cultural Association: He is the only Baul with verifiable associations with historical figures and institutions, including the Ramakrishna Mission, Anandamayi Ma, Osho, Bob Dylan, Allen Ginsberg, and a 40-year career in Indian Cinema.
IV. Demand for Respect and Accountability
Stop Stealing: Do not make Baul generic and random (cultural appropriation). Do not add other people's names to this lineage's poetry.
Give Credit: If you sing or record songs from this lineage, you must state the true poet: Baul Saint Sri Nabani Das Khyapa Baul even if it were Roshik which is nicname for Rasaraj Gosia a family member and only used within this family ancestral parampara Lineage.
Stop Fundraising: To fundraise in the name of preserving Baul when this lineage has already preserved it for over 60 years is the biggest fraud.
A Crime Against Indigenous Peoples: The appropriation of Indigenous people's identity, songs, and wisdom, especially when used for self-promotion and false fame, should be recognized as a crime.

New Baul singers are making up stories and new lineage that never existed before and leaving out where the songs originated from or putting in different poets names.
Today 2022 people love Baul song due to my family and our dedicated lifetime work of pioneering Baul in India and around the world for over 100 years before there was Facebook, can you even imagine how difficult it was?
Before my family nobody knew who and what Baul was, we are the only lineage of Baul going back thousands of years. We have always been around and in the villages of Birbhum W Bengal as Guru's and teachers the spiritual newspaper before the newspaper, called Baul Guru's.

When you see Das Baul or Dasi in regards to Baul that is our lineage, many have followed us, singing our songs, dressing as us Babu Kishan designed patch work dress and playing Ektara Baya at the hip and nupoor (ankle bells) created by Nabani, it is his style. as this style!
Nabani Das Khyapa Baul (my Guru whom, I called Boro Baba, my Grandfather) as the eldest Grandson of my generation and the only one who spent extended time with Nabani as he acted as my father for 8 years.
My Grandfather and Guru Nabani Das Khyappa Baul was part of the Freedom Movement in India singing before Nehru gave his speeches. This Baul lineage has always been known as the biggest attention intoxicating through the honey of their song.
Nabani Das Khyapa Baul sang for Nehru before all his talk all over India. Then my parents (Purna Das Baul and Manju Dasi) and myself (Krishnendu Das aka Babu Kishan) did the same for Indira Gandhi and her son's Sanjay and Rajiv Gandhi, we were very close to Indira Gandhi.
We sang on millions on the largest stages all around India hundreds of times.
My parents and the women in my lineage were legendary, they are the first and we are the only Lineage of Baul. My was the first and only Baul from lineage Baul to ever travel the world. The story ends there, there are now some followers of Baul Women who travel but her-story has been made and these are mere performers. I will qualify more later and it will be very public.

Nobody in Baul ever said, Lineage except me and now there are others making up stories that are not true. As you can see this blog is called Lineage Baul and it was created in 2010? We always used Parampara, then lineage, then we were copied and every fake Baul made up a lineage, some even carry pictures around to prove they have a lineage, Babu Kishan knows those people they were not Bauls. We didn’t have internet back then and it was so difficult to communicate and travel around the world. The hard time we had to make a road very easier for new comers! I always encouraged every new Baul singer and they all followed my template and traveled to the places we went and met my friends but somehow the story has changed and you created a lineage, do you know that I knew you Guru before you were ever born, do you know that I helped him a lot? We brought many new Baul singers who follow our lineage along with us on our journey's of which I arranged.

From what I hear they (the new Baul singers) are not Baul Masters, we never used the term Baul Masters ever and need voice lessons, beyond voice lessons, development of voice quality, you cannot even sing in a cord or track!!

Be a Baul do great work, help people and inspire people but don’t make up 4 generations and sing the songs from my lineage giving other poets names it has already been recorded and documented before you were born.
If someone gave you the wrong information that is not my problem it is yours. When learning Baul was always from a family, a Baul is always taught who the poets are, why on earth would you say Baul does not care who the poets are. My only guess is that you do not know, writing wrong poet names on Nabani's songs is to mis-appropriate the songs and use Baul making up stories to have people touch your feet?
Please do the practise and don't makeup stories and drama, just try to be a true Baul!!

Baul and Ramakrishna is only associated with KD Babu Kishan as he is the only Baul to be a monk in the Ramakrishna Mission for 12 years, this is a first and last in Baul.
