The culprits know people do not know what is Baul and what is not, westerners are particular vulnerable to their lies, they do not speak the language, they do not know the history, they think it is authentic because these people show Gurus who are by the way not Baul Gurus at all.
This is all explained in the book and then everybody becomes completely confused because books on Baul, academic books, newspapers, academic scholars needing careers write sensational lies, they don't know. All because this lineage made Baul famous through a history that has been deleted because if they told the truth they would not make any money off of this singular history of Baul.
Do not misunderstand, Baul is for the world, the villagers of Birbhum are encouraged to sing Baul songs, the songs were for them in the first place, those Bauls do not make wild claim, they are not trying to usurp Baul, we are not saying they shouldn't accept donations either. The villagers of Birbhum are not what we are talking about and we are not talking about the people who follow Purna Das Baul. The distinction is the international liars from Bengal, we are talking about is the scammers who are pretending to be Baul who have created fake lineages, award, use international travel to collect donations and have said they are going to preserve Baul when Baul has already been preserved and they have already stolen intellectul property of this lineage, songs, style, dance and are making up false narratives, collecting donations, fundraising for a jackpot, collecting people, turning Baul into a Baba and Ma Guru business, claiming they are next Purna Das Baul, one minute Vaishnava with full tilaka, then a supreme Shakti Guru with bindu. These are the self-titled Baul Artists and Baul Masters that do not exist. They are NOT indigenous to Baul, Babu Kishan knows who is indigenous and who is not, and he knows who is singing Baul and who is copying him in every step he has ever taken.
Baul is not, for cosplay or pretend you are NOT "Baul Samrat Purna Chandra Das Baul, he is a rare one off, a national piece of the history of India so is Nabani Das Khyapa Baul and Krishnendu Das Baul (Babu Kishan).
Baul is not for announcing you are the next 'Purna Das Baul'. Anouncing you are the fist Baul to sing as a single person on Calcutta stage, or the first Baul Women to do anything is an absolute lie.
Nabani Das Khyapa Baul is the first Baul to sing on a stage in the 1920's and stages all over India and Calcutta, then Purna Das Baul, Manju Das and KD Babu Kishan and all have singular on Calcutta stages and stages all over India. What a theif you are and a liar.

Baul is ancient, you can't create a lineage out of few generations, you either are indigenous to the land or not, an import to the land from a middle class family is not a Baul can never be a Baul especially when the basic principle of Satya (truth) truth telling has been voilated. Baul is indigenous to the land of the land. Babu Kishan, Purna Das Baul and Manju (first and last women Baul) to travel the world. Many opportunistic claimants mis-appropriated Baul as cosplayers pretending they were Baul used Baul to take advantage of the work of this lineage.
KD Babu Kishan created Baul fusion 2 decades before others claim and in a big way, he recorded and composed all of his fathers most famous music and is one of the reason that people knew who Purna Das Baul is,since the 1970s, before the Purna Das Baul was famous in India and even in USA in 1967 and Russia since the 1950s. Nobody at all would know who Nabani Das Khyapa Baul even though he was famous in Birbhum and when he passed in 1969 the whole of Birbhum closed down in his honour, however his memory was not kept alive, his history was washed away and replaced by fake Bauls who now pretend they are a Baul Avadhut haning out at Tarapith. Without Babu Kishan nobody would know the actual history.
In fact nobody would know about Baul without the lineage and mostly Babu Kishan. You may have encountered cosplayer Bauls, they are not Baul, they are using Baul for donations, international travel, personal fame they have never done the work, they have never had a Baul Guru, they are built upon poaching, inidigneous intellectual property theft to collect donations, gain awards, attention, build upon false claims. They dance our style, to songs that are not Baul or stolen from this lineage, they play pretend sewing false narratives while having people touch their feet and worship them, this is part of the Baba and Maa wanna be trying for a finacial jackpot game. Even acting like they worked in Indian Cinema, taught at Universities and tring to walk every step the Babu Kishan has, Purna Das Baul and Nabani Das Khyapa Baul lives.
For over 60 years Krishnendu Das Baul (Babu Kishan) has lived, born on the soil of Birbhum taken by his grandfather Guru Nabani Das Khyapa Baul at birth, and on his instruction, learned, lived, breatherd, preserved, researched, pioneered the Baul Music, philosphy, tantra and Baul Culture throughout India and Worldwide. All the firsts and lasts of Baul belong to this one and only Baul Parampara or lineage of 13 generations documented and many generations before. This is the only Vaishnava Sahajiya Tantric Bauls of Birbhum who originally created the travelling group called, The Bauls of Bengal.
This is called working in Indian Cinema and KD Babu Kishan is history in that he is the first and last Baul to ever work in India Cinema and regarding Ramakrishna he is the fisrt and last Baul to be associated as he was monk for 12 years, his grandfather had a history to as he is the first and last Baul to know Vivekananda and Sharada Ma and this lineage did seva, fundraised for the Ramakrishna Mission for decades.
Baul is about Seva, seva to the villagers, to others getting donations for others, helping others. Baul and Gaudiya Vaishnava is only tied to this lineage, none of these fake Bauls ever did seva, they don't even know the history. Yet, they are acting like authorities on Baul and Gaudiya Vaishnavism, Ramakrishna and its one and only history with Baul, acted out teaching the only few tattva's only categorized by Babu Kishan that were written into Purna Das Bauls book, Baul Philosophy, their are 108 Baul tattvas never given out because of this intellectual property theft, this is indigenous fraud, they are all frauds.
Babu Kishan is a rare one and only, first and last Baul to have these actual associations to have lived this life, he created the modern template to preserve teach the world about Baul. This has been stolen, his name deleted, his father name deleted and Nabanis name deleted. Babu Kishan made Baul popular, then all the fakery started, this history must be completed and told. They are even acting like they had something to do with every aera of his life. Taking one time picutures trying to reclaim his history of composing music, and of this lineages difficult path from obsurity to historical fame. A history trying to be stolen. There will never be another Nabani Das Khyapa Baul he is the only Baul associated with Tarapith and Bama Kepa, there will never be a first Indian Baul singer who gained fame in India and Internationally because he was a one and only, first and last, there will never be another KD Babu Kishan who worked so hard, in time before cell phones, and the internet, in a time when it was so difficult to take Baul fromt he villages of Birbhum to all of India and worldwide.
Babukishan aka Krishnendu Das started his life in Indian Cinema at a young age in Kolkata,West Bengal, India as a music composer and songwriter for Bengali film, serials, and drama’s beginning in the 1970’s to 1990’s. He received many awards during these years and was awarded, “The youngest Music and Film Director” in Bengal at that time. Babukishan received many awards for his music compositions in Bengal even before he arrived in the Bombay film industry as Babukishan in 1981 it was during this time period that he traveled back and forth then moving permanently to Mumbai in 1989.
In Bengal he composed super hit music for Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Arti Mukherjee, Banashree Sengupta, Shakti Thakur, Gopa Bose, Hemant Mukherjee, Pandit Amarnath and many more. Babukishan composed all of his father’s music, the legendary world renowned vocalist Purna Das Baul, who is the state artist and representative of Indian and Bengali culture around the world.
Known as Krishnendu Das during his early creative years in Kolkata his music compositions were produced for big banner films such as Amar Deep, Rakto Sapoth, Marg, Manob Premik Nimai, Chapa Dangaar Bou, and drama’s such as Amlo Madhu as producer and music director, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu as producer, project design, music and promotion. His serials were Charitroheen, Mejo bou, Didi, Mahalaya, Ek Paloke, Radharani, Guldasta, all which were very popular and he was awarded best music director.
Babukishan started his career in Bombay as a music composer and as a music and film designer, production consultant working with India’s top music labels & film companies for more than 30 years . He has produced over 150 scores for Indian Cinema and Bollywood films. He has composed, produced and promoted over 44 albums for Bollywood’s top singers such as Kumar Sanu, Sunidhi, Shaan, Sadhna Sargam, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Poornima, Abhijit, Udit Narayan, Sudesh Bhosle, Mohd.Aziz, Vijay Benedict, Asha Bhosle, Anup Jalota, Suresh Wadkar, Usha Mangeshkar, Ravindra jain, Nitin Mukesh, Alka yagnik, Vinod Rathod, Ghulam Ali, Mehdi Hassan, Pankaj Udhas, Anwar, Anuradha Paudwal, Amit Kumar and many others. Babukishan’s career took him beyond Bombay, he went on to perform and record with some of the best musicians of the west George Harrison, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Chakka Khan, Ravi Shankar, Zakir Hussain, Tom Petty, Miles Davies, Allan Fakir, Herbie Mann, Third World, Robbie Robertson, Garth Hudson, Bob Dylan, Ziggy Marley and others…
While in Bombay he became known as Babukishan his nickname, as the 2 directors named Suraj Sanim and Mahesh Bhatt had a difficult time pronouncing his name Krishnendu, therefore, they started to call him Babu Kishan all the time thus it stuck and became his brand name in the entertainment world.
Babukishan recorded Durga Puja albums with all the top Bollywood playback singers having them sing in Bengali, this was a very new idea at the time and a super hit. However, at first there were many Bengalis who were very critical because many Bengali singers that were really talented did not have work as singers and Babu was bringing in outsiders. Some of these Indian Cinema singers he recorded in Bengali were Anaradha Paudwal, Md Aziz, Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sadhana Sargam, Alka Yagnik Purnima, Vijay Benedict, Abijit, Kumar Sanu, for Durga Puja songs HMV/Venus/Tips Music India/Universal with big promotions. It should be noted that Indian Cinema started from Bengal and now 70% of the people in the modern Indian film industry are from Bengal. Babukishan being one of them who has composed everything from Hanuman Chalisa to Hip Hop.
Babukishan has worked with just about everybody in Indian Cinema as a promotion designer, production designer, music designer, and music director, from Amir Khan to A R Rahman… from the production of music, promotion to the international market. Babukishan is probably the most famous person from Bollywood who is known behind the scenes within Indian Cinema.
Krishnendu Das Baul (Babu Kishan) actually did work in Indian Cinema for 40 years, he did the work, knew the people. He is a indigenous Baul, he pioneered everything about Baul, he has been copied and appropriated right down to his lineages songs, his songs (own Lyrics) that he brought to the public, not to be stolen and used by what he calles Hawker Bauls with serious intentions of deleting the history of Baul through random "WE" no there is no WE you did not do the work, you copied this lineage, you copied Nabani, Purna Das Baul and definetely KD Babu Kishan right down to where he went and who he associated with. Enough, truth will be told.
RD Burman was Babu Kishan's Bollywood - Indian Cinema Guru for 14 years his father SD Burman was Nabani Das Khyapa Baul friend.
BabuKishan already knew RD Burman from Bengal, his family was like family to Babu and when he arrived in Mumbai he started working as R D Burman’s assistant, learning Indian Cinema music from one of the all time greats in Indian film music. Babu spent about 13 years with Legendary Music Director RD Burman during some of RD Burman's most difficult times, until his death in 1994.
At first Bombay was a foreign place to Babu, he spoke Bengali and needed to learn Hindi, he was just a kid and had been living in hotels. When RD Burman found out that Babu had been living in a hotel which was expensive he arranged for Babu to meet the upcoming singer Abhijit from Kanpu,UP but Bengali, he thought Babu and Abhijit could help each other out by becoming house mates.
RD Burman also suggested that Babu start working in the music industry while he was getting his music composer career off the ground. Burman introduced Babu to his first contacts, at R.K Electronics. Burman thought Babu was dynamic and energetic; he knew that Babu would be perfect for the job. Babu is so grateful to R D Burman. R.K Electronics needed someone to promote their company and Babu, already having fame as a composer in Bengal, was the guy to do this and Babu Kishan knew all distribution contacts from the Eastern Zone.
He introduced R.K Electronics to the Eastern Zone and the combination today is known as TIPS Industry, one of largest Entertainment Company in India.
Babu is an author of 3 books in Bengali and English, the last book was sponsored with the help of George Harrison and Ravi Shankar. He is a prolific poet and has been travelling worldwide for 40 years as a cultural ambassador for Bengal and India. He has performed at all top festivals worldwide and has lectured at Universities world-wide. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and The Royal Albert Hall in London and many other large venues around the world.
No the cosplayer fake Bauls did not work in Indian Cinema, they did not do the work regarding the Ramakrishna Mission, Gaudidya Vaishnavism, Baul in the West or any of the history of Baul. Experts acting as experts on Baul are just as bad.
Hawker Bauls and these actors acting as experts on Baul only 'RIDE ON THE COATTAILS' of this lineage and their indigenous ancestry including pretending to be NABANI DAS KHYPA BAUL -THE ONLY 'KHYAPA BAUL' AND THE ONLY 'KHYAPA BABA' OF BIRBHUM OR EVEN BENGAL, PURNA CHANDRA DAS BAUL AND KRISHNENDU DAS BAUL (BABU KISHAN) all documented the truth will be told.
These fakes did not categorize all the Folk Music of India, don't even know the folk music of Bengal of which Babu Kishan is an expert at and has composed for all the famous people of the 1970's onward, they do not even know the difference between folk music and Baul spiritual songs. They can copy and steal them off of Babu Kishan which is never a Baul.
They can copy this lineage using Nabani's style Ektara, Baya drum around the waist and his style of Nupoor (ankle bells) you can see them singing them on youtube or in documentary videos, but that is not Baul, they never give credit, or even attribution "where did you steal the songs and style from" they only know indigenous intellectual theft, thinking nobody will know, and perhaps Babu Kishan have been too silent for too long, those days are over. Baul does not need any do-gooders for your personal greed or just plain stupidity.
If they wanted to really be a Baul they would do some seva to the villages and leave the youtube videos out of the picture, especially these vague platitudes, maybe consider a new mouth piece. It is a game of dress up and the singing is not Baul singing, can't you tell, seriously what do you know about Baul if it is what you learned from them, it is not anywhere close. Today you can get anything on the internet and fake anything. No they do not have any adhikara, their Gurus were not even Baul Gurus. Have they done any decades long fundraising for others, or major Seva, no they are just promoting themselves.
