Nabani Brajabal Dham, Baul Institute, Preserving Baul and International Research Centre

This is the temple in Santiniketan (Santiniketôn) a small town near Bolpur in the Birbhum district of West Bengal, India, approximately 180 km north of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta).

Bhubhandanga is just before Tagore University on the right side. This piece of land organized by Babu Kishan aka Krishnendu Das and acquired from "Vishava Bharti Tagore University Chancellor Nimai Sadhan Basu" originally it was land that Rabindranath Tagore had gifted to Nabani Das Khyapa Baul for his life service to 'Vishava Bharti Tagore University' Nabani Das Khyapa Baul the first and only Baul music and dance teacher, he was Rabindranath Tagore's best friend and Baul Guru.

Half of the land was taken by Muslims who built a graveyard, they stole the land by burying their dead bodies on the land then claiming as their own. Babu paid for and built a fence around the property. Babu paid for the temple and it upkeep. He planted all the tree's and flowers that was his passion. This was to be a Baul Cultural Hub, a place of education and preservation.

Babu Kishan was working on his career in Bombay, sending money back to his family in Calcutta for them and for the management of the Baul Institution & Research Centre that he created.

His family mismanaged and misused the land and changed what the original purpose of this place was to be, without his knowledge or permission. They never contacted him to let him know in 2008 that the temple was destroyed by the University because of misuse, it was years later that he found out?

A condition that was stipulated when Babu acquired the land was that this land was to be used as a NON PROFIT Baul Institution and Research Centre. Again without his knowledge the original intent was changed and this created chaos within the Baul community. This was all done behind Babu's back and people were told to not tell Babu anything. When Babu found out this was very disappointing and painful to him. Preserving Baul and educating other about Baul was his lifes work and a dream in honour of his Guru Grandparents who raised him as Mother and Father until he was 8 years old when Nabani passed away in 1969.

Babu Kishan aka Krishnendu Das organized and created this place, because of his devotion and love Guru Nabani Das Khyapa Baul who was best friends with Tagore and the Baul who initiated Tagore in Baul giving him the name Ravi Baul. This Baul Institution was his passion, energy, devotion, time, money.

All gone, Why? This must be addressed.

Over the years the Baul Research Institution was changed from the original intention in honour of Brajabala and Nabani Das Baul whose names were deleted and it was used for what it was never intended for. Word has it was destroyed due to mismanagement. He has learned bit and pieces and his family has not said, a word to him to him, he found out from other people, his family actively told people not to tell Babu, they actively deceived him?

Baul and Ramakrishna is only associated with KD Babu Kishan as he is the only Baul to be a monk in the Ramakrishna Mission for 12 years, this is a first and last in Baul.

This lineage is the first and only Pioneering Lineage to bring Baul out of the village in Birbhum to the World.

Some others were invited to travel with them or followed them, trying to do what they have already done, then Riding on the Coat Tails of this lineage saying they are they are first, they are not, the first Women Baul to travel around the world starting in 1969 was Manju Das before internet.

Copying what Babu Kishan and his family have already done is miseducating the public because many are making astronomical claims that are not true. The real Baul is extinct! Babu Kishan has ARCHIVED BAUL decades ago, it has been done, it is complete. This will be presented one by one. This is important because 'Newcomers to BAUL', are watering down, reducing and dumbing down Baul. The speculation on who the Bauls are is mind boggling. Scholars have never got it right, they only speculate or talk to the wrong people. These statements will be qualified one by one.

Babu Kishan has preserved his one and only'Lineage Baul' because he could fore tell the change Baul was even going through back in the 1970's.

No one in this world would know who the Bauls of Bengal are without all the work of this family, this lineage and Babu Kishan. All Bauls follow this lineage, this lineage is ancient and they do not follow anybody.

The new Baul singers, follow this lineage by singing their songs, by dressing as they dress, by following them around the world and by meeting their friends.

Bob Dylan, Allen Ginsberg, Rabindranath Tagore, Osho and many others were only associated with this family and this lineage.
