Statue of Nabani Das Khyappa Baul, he was the Baul who inspired Rabindranath Tagore.

Statue was commission by Rabindranath Tagore in honour of Nabani Das Khyapa Baul his Baul Guru.
Statues were created by Ram Kinkar Baij who was a great friend of Tagore's and Nabani's.

Nabani Das Baul is the Baul who inspired and initiated  Rabindranath Tagore into Baul, Nabani gave Tagore the name Ravi (Robi) Baul and Tagore gave Nabani 2 names "Mirror of the Sky" and the other was 'Khyapa Baul' Nabani is the was and is the only "Khyapa Baul" the villagers all knew this, today everybody is calling themselves Khyapa Baul self named.

There is only one Khyapa Baul and that is Nabani Das Khyapa Baul a Baul Tantric and Avadhuta.

This statue can be viewed in front of the Agricultural department Krishi Bhavan at Vishva Bharti University, in Santiniketan, it is a symbol of the rural culture of Bengal. Vishava Bharti is the University Tagore created.
