Re-making this singular lineage or parampara's firsts and lasts regarding historical Baul that have  already been 'completed and lived' by this singular parampara or Baul indigenous lineage. It is shocking to see our 'first and lasts' claimed and remade into short youtube clips for the collection of people, awards, the collection of people, international travel and social media influencer class? 

Theese are the last of authentic indigenous Baul Women, it is truly sad that what you see today is not Baul and especially NOT Baul Women. Worse yet, today we have actors who have stolen the cultural identity of Baul. Now, these same ones are claiming they are the next Purna Das Baul and Baul Ambassadors when Purna Das Baul and the title Baul Ambassador only belong to this lineage as a first and last. The audacity of these fakes who have created a cultural genocide as opportunistic claimants while riding on the coattails of this singular lineages firsts and lasts. This is cultural fraud. 

Do not superimpose anything in this blog over any of the social media influencer self-titled cosplayer Bauls, they are not Baul, they are actors trying for donations and fundraising jackpots, while shadow footprinting Nabani Das Khyapa Baul, Baul Samrat Purna Chandra Das Baul and Krishnendu Das Baul (Babu Kishan's) legacy as the only the only authentic Baul pioneers, following them around copying everything they have done, does not make a Baul. 

It is cheating, lying, and cultural fraud. These simple Baul Women suffered because of the tricker fake Baul Women who have laid claims of being Legendary copied by Babu Kishan's work.

This is a classic case of indigenous fraud, Replacing indigenous Baul by remaking them, while poaching the intellectual (songs, where they went, retracing everything they have done) with a cosplay while claiming lived lives of this lineage. 

 “When people steal from our culture they end up distorting our culture, they turn it into something we do not even recognize, erasing us by replacing us.”  

They re-package a watered-down or romanticized version. The mainstream world then accepts the fake/distorted version as authentic, effectively erasing the original living caretakers and replacing them in the public consciousness. I have see this in academia, and in the western audiences who do not have a clue, if it sweetly smiles and looks exotic it must be, whether their lineage is fake, their style and songs are appropriated, they have not got a clue.

When a sacred song, medicine, or teaching is taken out of its traditional lineage, it loses its spirit or in this case Baul essence (the Shakti that has been passed down for hundreds of years). When the dominant society spreads that distorted version, the original community is erased because their true practice is no longer recognized—even by their own youth who grow up seeing only the mainstream caricature.

 Babu Kishan says, Thank You ti Usha Harding of the Kali Mandir in Laguna Beach, for putting this video of his family together. It is a delight for him to see his Grandmother Guru and his Aunt Radharani.

 They are very dear to him because he spent his first 8 years of life with them and Nabani Das Khyapa Baul. Although Brajabala is his Grandmother (Guru) she was his first mother because she was there for him all his life as his mother.

 In 1986 Babu Kishan aka Krishnendu Das invited and introduced Usha (Elizabeth Harding) to Bengal India. Journeys with her to the Joy Dev Mela in Kenduli Birbhum and the Paush Mela in Shantiniketan where was introduced to Babu Kishan's family.

Babu Kishan introduced Usha to the Ramakrishna Mission in Calcutta and took her inside through the back door of the Dakinishswar Temple. He was a monk in the Ramakrishna Mission for 12 years, so he had some sway and allowed Usha to take the picture of Kali Ma that is on the cover of her book Kali. I think she was the first Westerner to take a picture of Dakinishswar Kali Ma.

Babu Kishan was also instrumental in introducing her to Baul Culture and Kali ma and encouraged and supported her in creating the Kali Mandir in Laguna Beach and her book.

This is some of the last video footage of the last rare authentic Baul Women and Men. Today they are all fake followers on the coat tail of this one and only lineage of Vaishnava Tantric Baul.

There is no other lineage, those who say there are are making it all up as they go, they teach wrong teachings.

Brajabala and Radharani look simple but make no mistake they were Oral Sanskrit Scholars and knew more Vaishnava Tantra that anybody could know.

2007 Babu Kishan @ the Kali Mandir in Laguna Beach, he encouraged Usha to start the Kali Mandir after he introduced her to Kali of Bengal in 1986 when he brought her to the Dakshina Ramakrishna Kal Temple through the back door in Calcutta where she took the picture of Kali that is on the cover of the book. Babu Kishan had been a monk in the Ramakrishna order in Calcutta and had been traveling back and forth to California for since the late 1970s. 

 

He introcuded Usha Elizabeth Harding to his Indian community for fundraising for her temple in Laguna Beach. So tell me why any fake Bauls have traveled to this temple? People need to know the history to understand how this has been going on for decades, how this lineage has been seriously Shadow footprinted, right down to going everywhere Purna Das Baul, Babu Kishan and Manju Das have gone... they have been tracked down including Babu Kishan's teaching at Universitires and copied, however, these people are not Baul, they are not indigenous to Birbhum. They are actors, shadow footprinters, not Baul.
