Remaking Baul by faking Baul, acting out all of our, one and only Baul lineage, remaking our lived lives.

Nabani Das Khyapa Baul, Purna Das Baul, Manju Dasi and KD Babu Kishan are the only authentic and first Bauls to pioneer Baul throughout India. Baul is intrinsically linked to the "soul and soil of Birbhum," recognized as the "greatest imagination of the Divine in all Bengali." Being indigenous to Birbhum, also known as Radha-desh and Rarh-desh (the red soul and red soil), Birbhum's Rarh Kirtan, based on Vaishnava Sahajiya Baul, appeals to the body, mind, and deeply to the soul of the villagers. Baul Kirtan is believed to awaken the soul through Kundalini, leading to a "Baul Darshan" and potentially Shaktipat, overwhelming the mind and directly touching the soul.

Through Baul songs and Kirtan, a "direct connection to our soul (atma tattva)" is made, serving as their darshan to the villagers. Babu Kishan's recurring advice is to "ask your soul" when unsure, to "create a dialogue with your atma (soul)," and to "look within," as "the universe and all Devata reside on the altar of your human heart." He defines life as "a dance with your soul, a trance dance."

Baul darshan aims to awaken the deepest mystic love between the human soul and the highest soul (atma - sat, chit, ananda), embodied by the vigraha Devas residing in the human body temple—for Vaishnava Bauls, this means Radha and Krishna, paralleled with Hanuman carrying Sita and Ram in his atma.

Nabani Das Khyapa Baul was called the "Mirror of the Sky" because, like the phrase "as above, so below," Baul's mirror the divine through song and an "earth based dance" that grounds their shakti (energetic power) into the earth (soil and soul are alive, that is why Nabani Das Khyapa Baul created over 200 akhara’s doing extensive deep powerful practice to bring the soul back into the soil before he gave the land for schools and hospitals, creating balance. The Baul dance is grounding that connects their vital airs (prana shakti) and "waves of bliss" to the earth, all results of Baul Darshan. The author stresses the importance of understanding Baul as (Vayu Tula) as the first step to comprehending this "ancient one and only parampara or ancestral lineage." This is important because 'Newcomers to BAUL', are watering down, reducing and dumbing down Baul. The speculation on who the Bauls are is mind boggling. Babu Kishan has preserved his one and only'Lineage Baul' because he could fore tell the change Baul was even going through back in the 1970's.
